The Warmest (Puffy) Jacket Known to Man

December 18, 2010

For all the attention to new, trademarked technologies in winter wear, people often forget that some of the warmest clothes are the ones that have been around for a lot longer. Stuff like what you would’ve found on an early 20th-century mountaineer. Stuff made with wool and a little fur around the edge — and maybe a few newer things, including nylon. Like this nylon puffer jacket, tucked over an old-world wool-and-alpaca Fair Isle sweater, the best of the old and the new. And some of the other outerwear featured in our January issue, which you can see below. When it comes to staying warm this season, you’ll want all sorts of material at your disposal.
