Ten Essentials: Robert Godley: 10 Essentials: GQ

October 12, 2010

Robert Godley

Robert Godley knows something about the tie business—he designed them for bigwigs like Turnbull & Asser for about ten years. But after moving from London to the States for a short-lived job with Ralph Lauren, he decided it was time to make the kind of preppy, irreverent club ties he’d always wanted to wear. Handmade from English silk, Psycho Bunny neckwear—which Godley revved up in 2006 with business partner Robert Goldman—boasts everything from tiny spades to Donnie Darko-style rabbit skulls, the latter inspiring the label’s oddball name. “When I showed that tie to a buyer, she said, ‘Look at the psycho bunny!'” Godley says. “The name stuck.”

Here, the designer gives us a glimpse into his own personal wardrobe, and reveals the ten things he can’t do without.
