A “Watch” for every Man

July 21, 2010

If an IWC watch were a man, he’d be the strong silent type. He’d be the guy who could charm a woman without even uttering a word. He would never have to scream for attention, he would simply command it (with his glare). Even the official motto of IWC is simple “good, solid craftsmanship from Schaffhausen”. Make no mistake about it, these are men’s watches made for men.

Imagine Rolls Royce or Bugatti trading in their names to be referred to as the International Car Company. International Watch Company is an unpretentious name for an unpretentious watch company. It’s refreshing, something that you don’t see very often in this day and age. From the Portofino to the Grande Complication, the entire line speaks to these sensibilities.

The company was founded in 1868 by an American engineer and watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones. He landed, along side a river in Schaffhausen, Switzerland where he wished to bring together the craftsmanship of the Swiss with the modern engineering technology from the U.S.
